spinal health care and wellness needs.

Michelle

Director

Michelle is a Registered Nurse who has specialized in pediatric spine deformity for more than 10 years and the adult spine for the last 3 years. Her role on the team continues to grow and evolve. Michelle is been dedicated to developing our research, training, educational and outreach platforms to ensure the best outcomes for our patients. She writes, designs, and implements research studies to improve the lives of our current and future patients.  She reviews radio-graphic studies to identify patients that would qualify and benefit from patient-specific implants and coordinates their care. She continuously reviews our patient education materials and updates them as needed. Michelle manages our surgical training and research bioskills facility dedicated to educating and training surgeons on novel surgical techniques and equipment. Additionally, Michelle assists with the coordination of outreach and philanthropic interests which includes, Global Spine Outreach (GSO) and Paddle-boarding for Cystic Fibrosis. GSO is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of children with complex spinal deformities around the world.

Michelle stays as busy out of the office too. She is a devoted wife and mom to a very active little girl. She loves to travel, cook, stay active and help others. One of her passions is Camp UOTS; a week-long camp for children in S. Florida who have completed or are currently undergoing treatment for childhood cancer.

Liane

Nurse Educator & Surgical Liaison

Liane is our surgical coordinator, educator, and nurse with over 16 years of experience. She has worked alongside Dr. Asghar in the clinic and surgical setting since 2009. She is a devoted mother, wife, and pet owner, which are roles that she keeps close to her heart. She is committed to the success of the surgical patients and removing the stress, anxiety, and fear of having surgery. She handles all the scheduling, coordinating and educating of the surgical patients preoperatively and postoperatively. She customizes each surgical experience for the patients to be a personable, healthy and successful surgical process.

Priscila

Physician Assistant

Priscila Gamiotea is a board-certified physician assistant who has been in the orthopedic spine surgery field for 5 years now. She graduated with Bachelors degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Florida and then completed her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Florida International Iniversity.

Priscila’s compassion, thoroughness, attention to detail, and commitment to her patients have given her a loyal patient base. Her goal is to make sure her patients have a smooth pre and post-operative process so that they can get back to doing the things they love to do.

Veronica

Physician Associate

Veronica Azcuenaga earned my associates in Radiography and worked as an x-ray and MRI tech for 7 years at an Orthopedic and Spine office before going on to PA school. I earned my Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Florida State University. My Orthopedic and Spine background in x-ray and MRI has given me much knowledge and experience to continue to care for patients with spine conditions such as scoliosis, degenerative disc disease and kyphosis.

Katherine

Wellness Director

Katherine earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Miami. Her Master of Science degree in nursing was completed at Florida International University in Miami. She then completed a post-Master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of Massachusetts. Katherine is an advanced practice nurse practitioner in pediatric and adult spine conditions.  She sees patients affected by conditions such as back pain, scoliosis, kyphosis, spondylolysis, and spondylolisthesis.  In addition, Katherine conducts follow-up visits for post-operative posterior spinal fusion surgery and scoliosis bracing. Her clinical interests encompass not only spinal conditions but holistic healing using conventional medicine and alternative therapies to heal the patient.

Katherine is a bilingual board-certified advanced nurse practitioner, certified in Advanced Pediatric nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), and certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

She enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters and enjoys living a healthy lifestyle by working out, eating healthy, and doing outdoor activities.

Dr. Alfredo Guiroy

Director of Research

Dr. Alfredo Guiroy specializes in research of spine and spinal cord surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, and spinal deformities. He is dedicated to advancing quality spine care through education, research, and improving how spine surgery is completed and patient outcomes.

With over 53 scientific papers published and 4 book chapters with evidence-based research, Dr. Guiroy is a leading research specialist in the advancement of spine health, spinal surgery, and the development of emerging spinal technologies.

Lindsay

Health & Wellness Coordinator

Lindsay is the Health & Wellness Coordinator for Elite Spine & Wellness. Health, wellness, & overall fitness have been key facets throughout Lindsay’s life.
 
As a child, she was a competitive club gymnast competing nationally from age 6-14. At age 11 a back injury (L5-S1 pars fracture & spondylolisthesis, required a period of recovery before a full comeback.   During college, Lindsay got involved in competitive CrossFit competing in multiple elite-level competitions. Along with coaching CrossFit and other group fitness classes, Lindsay expanded her coaching skillset during this period becoming a CFL1.
 
After college, a car accident in 2019 disrupted the stable congenital spondy that occurred in her youth. During this time she began the OPEX coaching certificate program which allowed her to dial in a specific exercise, lifestyle, and nutrition behaviors for her specific needs. Lindsay believes in an individualized approach to health & wellness, taking great care and meticulous detail into ensuring that each of her clients receives training and nutrition that best suits their bodies and lifestyle.

Jasmine

Medical Assistant
